Join us this June in London for Soma Solstice – an evening of ecstatic dance, cacao, and ritual to celebrate the summer solstice

The summer solstice has long been honoured as a time of light, abundance, and reflection. At Ecstatica, we gather in dance to meet this moment: to honour the body, the sun, and the spirit through movement, cacao, and shared intention.

Still flying high from our last gathering, 'DRUM THE WILD', we now return to the beautiful sanctuary of Soma hŌṃe in North London for 'SOMA SOLSTICE' – a special evening to welcome the arrival of summer.

Each ECSTATICA dance has a guiding theme. For SOMA SOLSTICE, our focus is on expressing gratitude for the Three Lights:

  1. The light of the sun – the light that brings us warmth, longer days, and more opportunities to connect, play, and meet others as we move into festival and holiday season. We honour the pure joy the sun brings us and the chance to share that joy with others.

  2. The light of the body – the body’s wisdom goes beyond the mind. Who knows the body better than itself? It is Soma - the organism distinct from the mind. While we are the body, it also holds its own intelligence. The body can shine a light on where we are out of balance. As we all know: if you're stressed, your body will tell you. We give thanks for this light and the way the body illuminates our shadows, calling us to face them and, ultimately, to grow.

  3. The light we are – If winter is a time of deep introspection and quiet beginnings, summer invites reflection: to hold our creations up to the light and acknowledge how far we've come. So often we skip this essential part of the journey – pausing to recognise the good we've done, to be proud of ourselves. Without it, our efforts lose meaning. We cannot truly share joy if we don’t have it within ourselves, if our work is driven by validation or a desire to “succeed” rather than rooted in the evolution of the heart. This solstice, we pause to be deeply proud of who we’ve become, and to bask in our own light. That is real self-love.

Through our cacao circle, intention-setting, and ritual practices, we will honour these Three Lights (because really, what’s a solstice without a little ritual?). For this ritual, you're invited to bring something that symbolises light in your life. What or who has brought you joy this year? Which part of yourself are you proud of? In what ways have you grown? Bring a small token – an object, photo, or even a few written words – that represents this light. You'll have the chance to place it on the altar during our opening circle.

More than anything, though, it is through the DANCE – through movement, through presence, through the love we give our bodies and the bliss we allow ourselves to feel – that we will celebrate.

There’s a reason dance exists in every culture across the world. It is a path to joy, to bliss, to hope. And without that, there is no light.

If you're feeling the call to mark this seasonal shift in community, presence, and movement, you're warmly welcome. Visit our upcoming events page to learn more and join us on the at the SOMA SOLSTICE dance event in London.
