Ecstatica FAQs
Events FAQ
Ecstatica is an immersive, music-driven experience combining ecstatic dance, ceremonial cacao, and community connection. No talking, no judgment – just movement, rhythm, and release.
Each event is a full journey, carefully held from start to finish. We begin by gathering in a circle to arrive together, followed by a short guided meditation to help you land in your body.
We then share ceremonial cacao in a circle and take a moment to set an intention for the evening.
From there, the energy starts to build. The warm up includes dynamic shaking to release tension, along with a playful, theme inspired embodiment practice to help you drop fully into movement.
Then we open the dance floor. Expect an hour of immersive, music led exploration, sometimes supported by a live musician or special guest offering.
We close the space together before ending the night with tea and time to connect with fellow dancers.
Yes, many do! Ecstatica is a safe and welcoming space – whether you come solo, with a friend, or as a group. You’ll be greeted warmly and guided from the moment you arrive.
Absolutely not. There are no steps, no choreography, and no right or wrong. Ecstatic dance is about freedom of expression, not performance.
Absolutely, and there is no such thing as a "beginner" at an ecstatic dance event because there is no level of experience we are trying to achieve.
The dance is open to your interpretation - no choreography, no set moves, just the freedom to move in your own way. Every dance is different and so in a way we are always beginners at the start of every dance.
Yes. To create a safe and immersive space, we follow a few simple guidelines:
• No talking on the dance floor
• No shoes
• No phones or other tech
• No spectating
• No intoxicants
We ask everyone to move with awareness and respect for themselves and others.
No – Ecstatica is a non-verbal experience once the ceremony begins. This helps you go deeper into your own journey and creates a sacred, distraction-free space for all.
Wear comfortable clothes you can move freely in. Think breathable, loose-fitting, and layerable. No shoes on the dance floor – we dance barefoot or in socks.
Just a water bottle, an open heart, and your willingness to move. We take care of the rest. Optional: bring a light shawl or blanket for rest during closing.
Ceremonial cacao is a natural, plant based heart opener made from pure cacao beans, traditionally used in ritual and community gatherings.
At Ecstatica, our cacao is sourced directly from a cooperative in the Sierra Nevada region of Colombia, produced sustainably and in collaboration with local communities.
Our founder, Yasmin, has visited the farm personally, forming a direct relationship that ensures quality, care, and integrity in every batch we share.
We serve it at the beginning of our events to ground the body, open the heart, deepen connection, and gently enhance the dance experience.
Please note: If you are pregnant, sensitive to stimulants, or taking medication that affects the heart or mood, we recommend not drinking cacao.
Each event usually lasts around 2.5 to 3 hours, including welcome, cacao ceremony, warm-up, ecstatic dance, and closing circle.
We ask that everyone arrives on time. Once the event begins, we move through the experience together, and late arrivals can disrupt the group atmosphere.
You are welcome to leave at any point if you need to. This is your evening, and you are always encouraged to listen to your body.
Our events are for ages 18+, unless specifically stated otherwise. We aim to create a mature, respectful space for growth, release, and transformation.
We don’t offer refunds. However, if you can’t make it, you’re welcome to use your ticket for a future Ecstatica event of the same value.
Just drop us an email at dance@ecstatica.uk (mailto:dance@ecstatica.uk)beforehand and let us know which event you’d like to come to instead.
Yes, absolutely. If you’d like to pass your ticket on to a friend, just email us at dance@ecstatica.uk (mailto:dance@ecstatica.uk)with their name before the event so we can update our list.
You can also move your ticket to a future event if that works better for you.
